One source is an opinion.

Every fact gets fixed from at least two known points: your numbers, and the people who live with them. Where the two disagree is exactly where the work is.

The map of how it actually runs.

Not the org chart: the terrain. Every handoff, every dependency, every quiet workaround, drawn to scale and named. In 1849, Godfray mapped every house in Jersey with its owner's name; every step in a process gets the same treatment.

Automation is a road through charted ground.

Once the terrain is mapped, the route is obvious: automated where the process is predictable, kept human where it needs judgement. No handoff. I draw the chart, then I build the road. Nothing gets automated that hasn't earned it.
